Privacy Collection Notice

The School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority) is collecting personal information on this online submission form for the purpose of processing your request for Alternative Curriculum and/or Reporting recognition.

The collection of your personal information enables the Authority to communicate the outcome of the submission review process with you, and where required, contact you if additional information or clarification is required regarding your submission.

Your personal information collected will be disclosed to the Authority authorised personnel in order to contact you if necessary, regarding your submission, and to notify you of the outcome of your submission.

If the Authority wishes to disclose your personal information for purposes other than those stated, your consent will be requested unless the disclosure is permitted under or by law.

The collection of this personal information is authorised under the provisions of The School Curriculum and Standards Authority Act 1997.

If you choose not to provide your personal information, the Authority may not be able to process your request for recognition of alternative curriculum and/or reporting or communicate the outcome to you or the school/s listed in your submission.

The School Curriculum and Standards Authority (the Authority) Alternative curriculum (and/or reporting on student achievement) recognition process seeks to determine the extent to which a curriculum (and/or reporting on student achievement) can deliver educational outcomes for students that align with the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline.

Completion of the Submission application provides information to the Alternative Curriculum Recognition Panel to enable assessment of the submission.

An Alternative Curriculum Recognition Panel will provide recommendations to the Authority’s Curriculum and Assessment Committee and Board including reasons for recommendation to place on the Register of Recognised Curriculum and/or Reporting on Student Achievement.

Please note: The functions of the School Curriculum and Assessment Authority, particularly in relation to curriculum, assessment and reporting, are detailed in the School Curriculum and Standards Authority Act 1997, Sections 9, 11, 12, 14, 15, 19C, 19D, 19E and 19G.

Demonstrate the similarities and differences that exist between your submitted curriculum and the curriculum content of the Western Australian Curriculum (Pre-primary to Year 10 as applicable), with an explanation of how the gaps are addressed, and why different content is valued by the proponent/organisation.


Achievement standards

Demonstrate the similarities and differences in standards of achievement expected of students in your submitted curriculum with the Western Australian Curriculum (Years Pre-primary to Year 10 as applicable). Include an explanation of any differences in these standards and how the gaps will be addressed.


PART C: REPORTING ON STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT

The School Curriculum and Standards Authority is interested in the extent to which the proposed method of reporting student achievement for Pre-Primary to Year 10 to parents/caregivers meets the reporting requirements and guidelines outlined in the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline – https://k10outline.scsa.wa.edu.au/home/policy/teaching-assessing-and-reporting-policy.

As outlined in the Pre-primary to Year 10: Teaching, Assessing and Reporting Policy schools must provide their school community with an assessment and reporting policy that is based on the Principles of Learning, Teaching and Assessment.

This policy must clearly and transparently specify how principals and teachers will:

  • provide individual students with feedback on their learning

  • use student achievement information to plan future learning programs

  • make judgements of student achievement in relation to the year-level achievement standard

  • administer prescribed national and statewide assessments

  • provide information on how a student’s achievement compares with the student’s peer group at the school, on request from the student’s parents/carers

  • communicate with parents/carers about student progress and achievement

  • report to parents/carers for each student at the end of each semester

  • report to parents/carers with information relating to the development of other student attributes that influence learning.
